Helping pet owners since 2014

We're pet people first and foremost, with plenty of expertise under our belts. Our team is made up of owners living the daily reality of pet care, working alongside a panel of vets, nutritionists and professional trainers. Between us, we support hundreds of thousands of pets across the UK. So whatever you're facing, there's a good chance we've been there too - whether it’s first-night puppy anxiety or senior cat fussiness. Most importantly, we’ll definitely know how to help.

Starting out with Tailster in 2014 (which you can think of as, “Uber for pet sitting”), we set out to support pet owners with easy access to care they can completely trust. The more owners we helped, the more we realised an even greater need. Pet care was scattered across a dozen places, half of it untrustworthy.

So we kept building. Pet Database is our DEFRA-compliant microchip registration and reunification service, which we launched in 2022. Register a chip, and if your pet ever goes missing, we alert local vets, wardens and rescues for free, and tell you the moment someone scans their chip. As simple as it should be.

But a microchip is only worthwhile (and legal) if it's registered to a database that's clean, safe, accessible and always up to date. That’s why we never charge you to update your details, and we price our service as a one-off lifetime membership. Adding fees would only be counterproductive to your pet’s safety.

HowPets is the next step. It puts everything a pet owner needs in one place. It’s backed by the same team, supporting hundreds of thousands of pets across the UK.

Advice you can trust

Pet advice online is messy. Some of it exists to rank in search rather than to help you. Some is a paid recommendation dressed up as guidance. And some sounds confident but is poorly researched enough to do your pet real harm.

On HowPets, you can read clear, practical guides on everything from a puppy's first night to feeding a senior cat. Every guide is shaped by our panel of vets, nutritionists and trainers, and anything that affects your pet's health is checked by a vet before it goes live. If we can't verify it, we don't publish it, and we update our guides whenever the advice changes.

What it all comes down to is putting your pet's health and happiness first.
